  • Strategized and executed marketing for all Michigan Theater, State Theatre, and Cinetopia International Film Festival film and live events, which draw more than 300K attendees per year with annual sales of $4M. Tactics include press releases; web and email marketing; direct mail; social media; street marketing; community outreach; and digital, print, radio, and TV advertising.
  • Launched new film series (e.g. Monday Funnies, Hitchcock, and Summer Classics After Dark) and stand-alone events (e.g. Neil Gaiman, Sing-A-Long Trapped in the Closet, and Malcolm Gladwell) to boost attendees and revenue. The listed examples resulted in 10K additional attendees and $90K additional net sales.
  • Increased Cinetopia International Film festival attendance by 71% in 2013 (second year) and 55% in 2014 (third year). Successfully negotiated more than $80K in media trade, which comprised 55% of the marketing budget.

  • Strategized and executed all national and local company marketing initiatives, including events, trade shows, direct mail, email, print advertising, and social media.
  • Significant accomplishments included overhauling the company website, creating a 20th anniversary exhibit at the Ann Arbor District Library, participating in a Today Show segment, launching the company’s Pinterest page, and nearly doubling the company’s Facebook fans since coming onboard.

  • Managed all store visual marketing communications, including weekly Action Lists, Visual Standards Guides, company memos and visual displays webpage. Read and executed by 11,000 end-users at 650 stores nationwide.
  • Partnered with cross-departmental teams to determine title, sign, photo, and fixture needs. Evaluated each task to ensure that it met company and departmental marketing and workload goals. Reacted quickly to impulse opportunities that drove incremental sales. Incorporated last-minute product, sign and promotional changes with a high degree of accuracy under strict publishing deadlines.

 

Kids and Bargain Marketing Specialist

11/07–10/09

  • Led weekly marketing meetings with directors and buyers to analyze program performance, anticipate sales trends, determine product placement and brainstorm marketing campaigns.
  • Responsible for $1.3M Kids’ co-op budget. Negotiated with publishers to increase Kids’ co-op budget by $400K to help offset company revenue shortfalls.
  • Wrote all departmental communications to stores, including a nonfiction expansion in 2007 and a toys & games expansion in 2009.

 

Visual Marketing Specialist

05/02–11/07

  • Managed 50+ unique marketing and merchandising projects annually. This process included collaborating with cross-departmental teams to determine project scope; researching and generating solutions to merchandising, sign, space, budget and fixture challenges; negotiating feasibility, effectiveness, timing and communication method; building and photographing/plan-o-gramming visual components; and writing clear, concise directives that were consistent with the company voice.
  • Conceived, wrote and published the Tip of the Week, a weekly field e-communication that covered key marketing initiatives, and the BEST! Visual Marketing Manual, a comprehensive store merchandising guide.

 

Marketing Coordinator

06/01–05/02

  • Designed and implemented new store fixtures with Store Planning and Purchasing teams. Created new front-of-store fixturing and layout for Waldenbooks stores that maximized display space.
  • Created partnership marketing promotions with Blockbuster, General Mills, JC Penney, Rite Aid, and more than 30 other organizations, which earned the company $900K in net sales
